Post-doctoral Training
NERSC and the Berkeley Lab Computing Sciences Area support early-career scientists with a range of postdoctoral fellowships. Postdocs may be hired to work on particular research projects or participate as part of a fellowship program.

NERSC Science Acceleration Program (NESAP) Fellowships
Postdoctoral fellows fill essential roles within NESAP, collaborating with scientific teams to enable and improve solutions to deep, meaningful problems across all program areas funded by the Department of Energy Office of Science. Application information will be available on the NERSC website during the application period.

Alvarez Fellowship
Over two-year appointments, Alvarez Fellows work closely with Computing Sciences Area staff to apply the latest technologies to computational modeling, simulations, and advanced data analytics for a spectrum of scientific applications: materials science, computer science, biology, astronomy, environmental science, energy, particle physics, genomics, and more.

Admiral Grace Hopper Fellowship
The Admiral Grace Hopper Fellowship in Computing Science develops early-career computational scientists to make outstanding contributions to HPC applications. Hopper Fellows use their skills in advanced algorithms, software techniques, HPC systems, and networking for scientific discovery.
