NERSC Director Sudip Dosanjh welcomed attendees and talked a bit about NERSC’s plans for the coming years.

Many talks sparked questions and lively discussions.

Khanak Barghava of Stony Brook University presented “Type Ia supernovae from helium-ignited double detonations in white dwarf mergers.”

Attendees on break enjoyed sweeping San Francisco Bay views, which include the cities of San Francisco, Berkeley, and Oakland, and landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island.

NERSC Department Head Debbie Bard gave an update on DOE’s Integrated Research Infrastructure (IRI) and NERSC. Bard also serves as chair for the Integrated Research Infrastructure Leadership Group and is product manager for the American Science Cloud Infrastructure.

This year’s NUG meeting enjoyed robust attendance both in-person and online.

Associate Lab Director for Computing Sciences, Jonathan Carter, welcomed NUG attendees.

Lipi Gupta who leads organizing the NUG annual meeting, welcomed attendees and introduced the speakers.

Stephanie Ribet from the National Center for Electron Microscopy (NCEM) at Berkeley Lab's Molecular Foundry gave a fascinating talk about using HPC to push the boundaries of electron microscopy in her talk “To Atomic Resolution and Beyond.”

Kevin Gott of the NERSC User Experience Group delivered highlights of the previous year.

NERSC-10 Project Director and HPC Department Head Hai Ah Nam gave an overview of NERSC’s tenth major HPC system, Doudna, coming in 2026.
