NUG Executive Committee (NUGEX)

The Executive Committee (NUGEX) of the NERSC Users Group (NUG) is a group of NERSC users who oversee NUG activities for the benefit of NERSC’s user community of 10,000+ researchers across all scientific domains of the DOE Office of Science. In short, NUGEX is the voice of the user community at NERSC and the DOE.

Serve on NUGEX

NUGEX members serve rolling three-year terms, so nominations are ongoing. You can self-nominate or nominate another NERSC user.

NUGEX members serve three-year terms and meet regularly (up to an hour per month) with NERSC staff. Some things the committee addresses include the following:

  • Identifying HPC needs from NERSC users and scientific communities
  • Identifying training needs for NERSC users
  • Providing topics or activities related to the NUG annual meeting
  • Coordinating activities at meetings and conferences where NERSC users and/or NERSC staff contributions would be valuable
  • Proposing and scheduling monthly NUG user meeting topics
  • Receiving updates from NERSC on important topics

NUGEX is also consulted on many NERSC policy issues, such as batch configurations, disk quotas, services, and training offerings.

In addition, NUGEX members may also help evaluate nominations for the NERSC Early Career Achievement Awards and submissions to the NERSC High Impact Science at Scale program, and attend the annual in-person NUG meeting.
