Institutional User Agreements

All users must agree to and abide by the NERSC Appropriate Use Policy. In addition, an agreement between Berkeley Lab and the organization of the project’s Principal Investigator is required if the project is not federally (U.S.) funded, and in certain additional cases.

NERSC refers to this agreement as the “Institutional User Agreement.” This nomenclature is consistent with the DOE term “User Agreement,” which refers to agreements between organizations. 

Note that this agreement is separate from the NERSC Appropriate Use Policy mentioned above.  

If your project requires an Institutional User Agreement with Berkeley Lab, check the list of organizations that either have current Institutional User Agreements (or are in the process of getting one). If you do not find your organization, please email the NERSC allocations team or open a ticket in the NERSC help portal.

Institutional User Agreements are valid for up to five years and cover only work done at NERSC. The User Agreement spells out intellectual property issues, among other things.
