Computer Systems Engineer 3
National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC)
Data Center Dept.
Networking Group
Tavia has 20-plus years of experience in high performance computing (HPC) in systems administration, storage, and networking. Current responsibilities include Group Lead for Networking, and CAM for the NERSC-10 project As Group Lead for the Networking Group, Tavia leads a team of highly skilled Network Engineers who keep NERSC’s data center network and WAN connections to ESnet up and reliable. The team designs and implements infrastructure improvements to provide the bandwidth and accessibility to NERSC resources that our users need, most recently upgrading to a 400Gb/s datacenter network backbone, and migrating the NERSC Global Storage fabric to RDMA over Ethernet. In her current role as CAM for the NERSC-10 project, Tavia is responsible for the activities of System Delivery, Installation & Integration, and Acceptance. In addition, Tavia and her team are actively involved in designing and procuring the network HW requirements for integrating the NERSC-10 system with the data center network. Previously, Tavia was the network integration lead for the NERSC-9 project, actively working with the vendor to ensure a successful integration of the Perlmutter system to the NERSC data center. Before coming to NERSC, Tavia was the team lead for the Systems and Operations Group at STFC Daresbury Laboratory in the UK, supporting the UK’s HPC National Service systems HPCx, ARCHER and the Hartree Centre.
