After completing his bachelors degree in engineering, Ershaad managed the high performance computing facility at JNCASR, Bengaluru where he also earned an MS through research degree studying the Electronic Structure of Organometallic Sandwich Complexes and Graphene based Nanomaterials using Density Functional methods. He joined the Computational systems group (CSG) at NERSC in 2017 coming from Temple University, Philadelphia where he was on the team that managed an HPC facility and where he also taught a graduate course on introductory programming. As part of CSG, Ershaad manages NERSC's largest parallel computing systems with a special interest in performance and the use of Linux kernel functionality for debugging and troubleshooting.
