Nominations are now open for the 2025 NERSC Early Career High-Performance Computing Achievement Awards.

Made in two categories, these awards are designated for early-career NERSC users who have used center resources extensively in their scientific research.

The “High Impact Scientific Achievement Award” recognizes work that has, or is expected to have, an exceptional impact on scientific understanding, engineering design for scientific facilities, or a broad societal problem.

A second award, “Innovative Use of High-Performance Computing,” recognizes early-career researchers who have used NERSC’s resources in innovative ways to solve a significant problem or who have provided a new methodology with the potential to have a large scientific impact. Examples might include the application of HPC to a new scientific field or combining computing, data, networking, and edge services to do something entirely new in a domain where HPC is already established.

Eligibility

The awards are open to NERSC users who — at the time of their cited accomplishments — were students or had received a degree after January 1, 2018.

Their cited work must also have been carried out in whole or in part during the 2024 - 2025 allocation years.

How to nominate

Nominations are accepted online only. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.

Deadline

Nominations close on Friday, January 30, 2026, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
