Score-P and Scalasca Performance Tools Training

NERSC will host one day training event for popular performance analysis tools Score-P and Scalasca developed at Juelich Supercomputing Centre, Germany, on Tuesday July 26. The presenters will be Christian Feld of Juelich Supercomputing Centre and David Boehme of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

This course is intended to

  • give an overview of the VI-HPS programming tools suite
  • explain the functionality of individual tools, in particular Score-P and Scalasca, and how to use them effectively
  • offer hands-on experience and expert assistance using the tools

On Completion, participants should be familiar with common performance analysis and diagnosis techniques and how they can be employed in practice (on a range of HPC systems). Those who bring their own application test cases will be coached in tuning of their measurement and analysis, and provided optimization suggestions.

Presentations and hands-on sessions are on the following topics:

  • Score-P instrumentation and measurement
  • Cube measurement analysis report exploration
  • Scalasca automated trace analysis

using Cori, the Cray XC40 system at NERSC.

A brief overview of the capabilities of these and associated tools is provided in the VI-HPS Tools Guide.
