Paraver and BSC Tools Training - Understanding Application Performance with Paraver

NERSC will host an one-day training event for popular performance analysis tools such as Extrae and Paraver developed at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), Spain, on Friday August 5. The presenter will be Judit Gimenez of BSC. She is currently the Tools Group Manager at the Computer Science department there.


BSC has developed a suite of performance analysis tools, named CEPBA-Tools, with a goal to make them easily adaptable to new platforms, environments or programs, scalable, and extendable in the same way that applications, platforms and programming models do. The tools have been developed with an intend to simplify and facilitate the process of extracting information from the performance data.

This course will give an in-depth introduction to the BSC profiling tools. These tools are often featured and taught in various SC and ISC tutorial programs. Cori, the Cray XC40 system at NERSC, will be used for this tutorial.

Please bring your own codes if you want to learn code performance characteristics using the BSC tools. The afternoon session will be devoted for this.
