Two additional compute racks were added on Edison on 2/19/2014

Two additional compute racks with 384 compute nodes were added to Edison on Feb. 19, 2014. Now Edison has 5,576 compute nodes, 133,824 cores in total. The peak performance is 2.57 petaflops.

Edison enters production on Jan 14, 2014

Edison system has been officially accepted by NERSC and will be in production when the 2014 NERSC Allocation Year (AY) begins on Jan. 14.  To account for its greater computational capability per node, time used on Edison will be charged against your AY 2014 allocation at a rate twice that of time used on Hopper.

Edison Lustre file systems, /scratch1 and /scratch2, were upgraded

On 12/16/2013, the Edison Lustre file system, /scratch2 was upgraded by adding three additional SSUs. On 1/7/2014, the /scratch1 file system was also upgraded with three additional SSUs. Edison's Lustre file systems now have 7.56 PB of total storage disk space and 163 GB/s of peak IO bandwidth.
