Large Scale Science on Cori

March 15, 2017 by Brandon Cook

NERSC is issuing a call for proposals for large scale simulation and data analytics on Cori. This call is intended to support full-system or near full-system runs on Cori that enable  ground-breaking science using HPC and Data resources at scale.

This call is complimentary to the NESAP program, but a successful applicant need to not be a member of a NESAP application team.

To ensure success of large scale runs you will be paired with a NERSC staff member who will aid in preparing runs, ensuring code readiness, scheduling, and coordinating resources  within the center. As a successful applicant, you will have access to the following resources:

  • A NERSC Staff Liaison (As Described Above)

  • Access to Full Cori System via System Reservations

  • Access to NERSC, Cray and Intel Engineers for Optimization Support

In your reply you will need:

  • Short description of science problem you want to solve and relevance to DOE Office of Science mission, which includes advancing the state of the art in large-scale scientific computation and data analytics

  • Description of code

    • Algorithm

    • Scalability and Performance Summary

  • HPC/Data software stack requirements

    • Language / Programming model

    • Data Analytics, Management, Visualization Tools

    • Workflow Tools

  • Estimate of time needed

  • Project deadlines (e.g. Gordon Bell Paper submission date)

To apply, enter the above information at the following form:

Responses will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Resources available through this call are available through June 30, 2017. If you intend to submit for Gordon Bell you must respond no later than March 20, 2017.
