Edison Scratch Filesystems Back in Service

September 7, 2016 by Rebecca Hartman-Baker

The Edison scratch filesystems (/scratch1 and /scratch2) have been returned to service earlier today.

All user data was deleted, so upon first login after the return to service, a new scratch directory will be automatically created for all users. This scratch directory may or may not be located in the same filesystem as it was before the outage. Any user who has been logged in since before the return to service at noon should log off and log back in to reset the SCRATCH environment variable and create a new scratch directory.

Please examine your scripts and replace any hardwired references to /scratch1 or /scratch2 with the environment variable $SCRATCH.

All jobs submitted before the return to service that were referencing the environment variable SCRATCH or /scratch1 or /scratch2 have been deleted.
