Deep Learning for Science School 2026

July 20 - 24, 2026

Berkeley, CA

Hosted by Computing Sciences at Berkeley Lab, the 2026 Deep Learning for Science (DL4SCI) Summer School is a five-day intensive program bringing together researchers and engineers to explore the latest advances in deep learning and generative AI (GenAI), with a special emphasis this year on foundation models, reasoning, and agentic AI for scientific discovery.

Who should apply?

The school is designed for advanced graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, academics, domain scientists, and engineers. Ideal participants will have a strong interest in applying deep learning to scientific problems on high performance computing (HPC) systems. A technical background with prior knowledge of machine learning, especially deep learning, programming skills in Python, and experience with deep learning software such as PyTorch are strongly recommended.

Deadlines, fees, and financial support

The deadline to apply is April 10, 2026. Acceptance decisions will go out on April 20, 2026, with waitlisted participants receiving final decisions by May 20, 2026.

Registration fees will not exceed $250 and will be waived for selected applicants currently enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, or PhD programs.
