SUMMARY:ALCF Hands-on HPC Workshop
DESCRIPTION:<p>The Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF) is hosting
a two-part hands-on HPC workshop in fall 2025. The workshop is designed to
advance users’ skills in high performance computing and artificial inte
lligence on ALCF systems (Polaris and Aurora)\; however\, the event is als
o open to NERSC users. The NERSC <em>Perlmutter</em> system has the same A
MD Milan CPUs and Nvidia A100 GPUs as on ALCF Polaris. The ALCF Aurora fea
tures Intel CPUs and Intel GPUs.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The virtual week (Septembe
r 23-25) covers the fundamentals of building\, compiling\, and running app
lications. It will also include overviews for getting started on the Auror
a and Polaris systems at ALCF. This virtual segment is strongly recommende
d for new users.</p>\n<p>The in-person week at Argonne National Laboratory
(October 7-9) offers in-depth sessions and dedicated hands-on time with A
LCF staff and industry experts.</p>\n<p>Workshop sessions will focus on fo
ur key themes:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>ALCF resources (Aurora and Polaris)</li>\n<l
 i>AI and machine learning (AI/ML)</li>\n<li>Data management</li>\n<li>Perf
ormance tools and debuggers</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Participants will gain practic
al experience on Aurora and Polaris\, focusing on porting applications to
heterogeneous architectures\, optimizing code performance\, and developing
AI/ML workflows. Participants will also have the opportunity to tour Argo
 nne’s facilities\, including the Aurora supercomputer.</p>\n<h3>Importan
