Dear NERSC users, The NERSC Users Group annual meeting is coming up on July 19 and we’d love to have you join us at the event at the Hilton Washington DC/Rockville in Rockville, MD. An active and engaged users group is vital to the continued success of NERSC being able to deliver resources valuable to its user community. NUG is hoping to revitalize its interactions with NERSC and July’s meeting is an excellent opportunity for you to be part of that effort. The NUG Executive Committee will have just elected new leadership and will be looking for volunteers to help fulfill NUG’s purpose and mission (see below). In addition to updates from DOE and NERSC, NUG is seeking contributions from users <> for 15-30 minute presentations on a topic of interest to meeting attendees, which include NERSC users, NERSC staff, and representatives from the DOE Office of Science. Topics could include (but are not limited to) exciting scientific results obtained by use of NERSC resources, novel use of HPC, scientific computing challenges encountered and/or solved, or a topic of importance to you with respect to NERSC operations. The NUG Annual Meetings web page is at There is a draft agenda on the NUG 2019 meeting web pages, but the schedule can still be modified to reflect topics of interest to meeting attendees. Note that this year’s meeting follows the SciDAC PI meeting at the same location. Registration and info link: NUG Purpose The purpose of NUG is to provide advice and feedback to NERSC on the current state and future delivery of NERSC resources and services. NUG is to promote the effective use of the high performance computing facilities at NERSC by sharing information about experiences in using the facility, suggesting new research and technology directions in scientific computing, and voicing user concerns. NUG also serves as a collecting body to identify the computational accomplishments and needs of the DOE Office of Science community. NUG will communicate this information within its membership, to NERSC, and the appropriate DOE program managers.
