GPFS cluster creation considerations

You may only have one GPFS cluster per existing HACMP cluster from which you create your GPFS nodesets. For information on creating and maintaining your HACMP cluster, see the High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing for AIX: Enhanced Scalability Installation and Administration Guide, Volumes 1 and 2.

Before you configure a nodeset for use within a GPFS cluster, you must first create a GPFS cluster by issuing the mmcrcluster command. Table 5 details the GPFS cluster creation options on the mmcrcluster command, which options can be changed later by the mmchcluster command, and what the default values are.

Table 5. GPFS cluster creation options

mmcrcluster mmchcluster default value
Nodes in your GPFS cluster X To add or delete nodes from the cluster use mmaddcluster or mmdelcluster respectively none
GPFS cluster data servers, primary cluster data server X X none
GPFS cluster data servers, secondary cluster data server X X none
GPFS cluster type X This cannot be changed none
Remote shell command X X /usr/bin/rsh
Remote file copy command X X /usr/bin/rcp

Notes:

  1. X - indicates the option is available on the command

  2. an empty cell - indicates the option is not available on the command
