Setup NX Player 4 on Mac Lion
Manually Setup NX Connection on Mac OS X Lion with NX Player 4
You only need to do this step once. For this step you will need the NX Access Key (Only accessaible after login).
The following tutorial is based on MacOS X 10.7, however, it will work for most Windows and Linux OS. This tutorial is intented for NX Player 4 only.
- Copy the NX Access key, and save it to a file called nxkey.key in your home directory.
- Start the NX Player 4, click "New Connection"

- Name the session "NERSC NX", fill in "nx.nersc.gov" and Host as "nx.nersc.gov" leaving the port number "22". Then click "..." as shown on the picture

- Check the box "Use an alternate server key", then click the "..." to browser/select the nxkey.key file you saved in the 1st step.

- After you select the key file, click the "X" to return to the previous dialog

- All Done.
Starting a NX Player Session
- Start NX Player 4
- Important. RESIZE your NX Player 4 window to the size you need for the NX session (e.g. make the window fill up the screen). There is no way to change the NX session resolution after the Session is started.
- Click on the "NERSC NX" configuration you created

- Type in your NIM username and password, then click OK

- If you are creating a new session, click "Create a new session". Or if you are resuming a session, highlight "My sessions" and select an existing session, then skip to the last step.

- When creating new sesssion, choose any of the "GNOME/KDE/SDM" desktop type

- Now your session is started/resumed and you can use NX.

- You can now choose a system from the "NERSC Systems" menu.
