ALICE

palicevo1

The Virtual Organization (VO) server. Serves as gatekeeper for ALICE jobs. It's duties include getting assignments from ALICE file catalog (at CERN), submitting jobs to pdsfgrid (via condor) which submits jobs to the compute nodes, monitoring the cluster work load, and uploading job information to ALICE file catalog. It is monitored with MonALISA (the monitoring page is here).

It's made up of 2 Intel Xeon E5520 processors each with 4 cores (16 virtual cores with hyperthreading). The total local disk space is 1.9 TB. It is running Scientific Linux SL release 5.5 (Boron) and is disk booted. It is in rack 17.

palicevo2

The Virtual Organization (VO) server testbed. It's a Dell PowerEdge R410 with 2 Intel Xeon E5520 processors, each with 4 cores (16 virtual cores with hyperthreading). The total local disk space is 1 TB. It is Scientific Linux release 6.2 (Carbon) and is net booted off of pdsfadmin1. It is monitored with MonALISA (the monitoring page is here). It can be found in rack 17.

pdsfgrid

Receives submitted jobs from palicevo1 and reports the system and job status to OSG. It's grid certificate status can be monitored here.

It's made up of 2 Intel Xeon X5650 processors, each with 6 cores (24 virtual cores with hyperthreading). The local disk space is 1.9 TB. Chos is available on pdsfgrid. It can be found in rack 17.

XrootD

XrootD gives high performance, scalable fault tolerant access to the ALICE data repositories. There are 10 XRootD servers which handle data for the ALICE collaboration. They are Dell PowerEdge R710 servers each configured into 8 filesystems with a Dell MD1200 disk vault with 72 TB of raided storage space each for a total of 720 TB storage.

The server names are

pd0109
pd0111
pd0129
pd0217
pd2219
pd2309
pd2509
pd2511
pd2529
pd2531

They are all running Scientific Linux SL release 5.5 (Boron), except pd2219, which is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.2 (Santiago). Their input and output are monitored by MonALISA here.

The XrootD redirector is pc1801 (soon to renamed palicexrdr1). It is running Scientific Linux SL release 5.4 (Boron). It's made up of 2 Intel Xeon X5520 processors, each with 4 cores (16 virtual cores with hyperthreading). The local disk space is 890 GB. It can be found in rack 18.
