Eliza maintenance 3/27/12
March 21, 2012 | 0 Comments
Next Tuesday, 3/27/12, we plan to do maintenance on the eliza file systems from 8:00 to 17:00. This maintenance involves getting GPFS up to the latest version and if all goes well it should not have any impact on your work. However, there is always a (slim) chance that problems could arise, hence this notice. If this is a particularly critical time for you let us know and we'll consider rescheduling.

PDSF work 3/6/12 - /project down and SL4 retirement
February 28, 2012 | 0 Comments
Next Tuesday, March 6, we need to remount /project. We will do this from 8-10am local time. This will only affect batch jobs and interactive use of /project. We will set projectio to 0 the night before so if your jobs specify projectio they will quit starting until after the downtime. If your jobs use /project and don't specify projectio (they should) they will fail when we unmount /project.
On the same day we plan to retire the chos environments sl44 and 32sl44. If you are still using either of them you should switch to sl53. While this has been planned for quite some time if it causes serious problems for you let us know. We do plan to retire it in an easily reversible way just in case of unforeseen problems.

PDSF maintenance 2/7/12
January 30, 2012 | 0 Comments
On Tuesday, 2/7/12, we are planning to do some maintenance on PDSF. If all goes well users should not notice any impact on their work, however, we do want to announce it just in case there are unexpected problems.
One purpose of the maintenance is to add some new filesystem managers. This should help alleviate some of the sluggishness that some of you have noticed recently.
