During the multi-day Edison maintenance (10/06/17 15:00-10/09/17 22:43 PDT), the intel compiler default was changed to intel/18.104.22.168 (release date: 8/17/2017), and a new version of Cray Developer Toolkit (CDT) (17.09) was made available on Edison. This CDT version contains the update on the following software:
August 1, 2017
Edison was upgraded to the CLE 6.0UP04 during the maintenance on 7/17-7/31/2017. CLE 6.0 is not compatible with CLE 5.2. All applications need to be recompiled. More information about CLE 6 is available here.

The Cray Developer Toolkit (CDT) 17.06 was set to default on 7/21/2017 during Edison scheduled maintenance. The following software versions are new default on Edison:

Edison /scratch1 and /scratch2 file systems upgraded to Grid Raid during the file system maintenance on 8/29/2016-9/7/2016

The two Lustre file systems on Edison, /scratch1 and /scratch2, have been upgraded to Grid Raid, and as of noon on September 7, 2016, they are made available to users as clean file systems. While this upgrade improves I/O performance in general, a couple of changes should be relevant to all scratch users on Edison.
