Alvarez was retired October 1 2004.

Alvarez was an LBL Linux cluster consisting of 80 two way SMP Linux nodes for production scientific computing. Each node has 1GByte of memory. The nodes are joined with a low latency high bandwidth Myrinet 2000 interconnect. Detailed characteristics are given below.
