Parallel Computing on the Eclipse IDE PlatformJonathan ChuWith funding from DARPA, IBM is developing Eclipse plugins as part of its project to meet the goals of performance and productivity of parallel computing systems. This year marks the first year of the Parallel Tools Platform (PTP) and Parallel Lanaguage Development Tools (PLDT) plugins. As a summer project, I have evaluated the Eclipse platforms for ease of installation and usability. I have created tutorials and followed up on current developments to determine if users at NERSC would be able to use the new plugins without sacrificing too much time in the migration process. I have determined that it may be too early to adopt Eclipse and PTP. However, this summer has seen rapid development in PTP and related plugins that may be of interest still.
