SSH Access to Jacquard

Like bassi, jacquard uses a particular ssh authentication method called keyboard interactive. Be sure that your ssh software supports this authentication method. Other common authentication methods are public key and password.

Passwords and Shells

Both bassi and jacquard use your NIM password, also used for PDSF and Davinci. Passwords cannot be changed directly on Jacquard, but rather through the NIM web account interface. NIM is also used to change the default login shell on Jacquard.

Charging

Charging is in units called MPP hours. One Jacquard hour is equal to 3.6 MPP hours. See Accounts and Charging on Jacquard.

Reading Binary Data from Bassi

Bassi is "big endian," and jacquard is "little endian." Use the assign command for Fortran, or byteswap functions for C and C++ to read binary data from bassi. The following use of the assign command and the FILENV environment variable will allow Fortran codes on Jacquard to read binary Fortran output files from bassi:

setenv FILENV .assign
assign -F f77.mips -N be g:su
assign -I -F f77.mips -N be g:du
