New User Policy

To incorporate requests for new OSG accounts into the
NERSC Information Management (NIM) System, and to facilitate the authorization
of user requests, the following steps are required to register a new OSG
user on NERSC systems.
User requesting account fills out OSG New User Account Web
Form at:
http://www.nersc.gov/nusers/services/Grid/starting/newuser_form.php
Submitting the Web form will fill out a mail template and
send it to a person in charge
of the group's activity at NERSC.

OSG Support Person
The user will also need to fill out the NERSC Computer Use Policies Form, before they can run at NERSC.
A PI connected with the request should determine
if the user making the request should be be granted
an account under the requested OSG group and fill out a form in
NIM. When the PI submits his/her NIM request a RNW ticket gets created.
The NIM request will be processed by the appropriate NERSC personnel,
who will create the account(s), thus resolving the ticket.
The person requesting the new account will be notified via e-mail
when the account is created. This e-mail will also contain information on how
to obtain and change their password, and how to get information and help
at NERSC.
