ERSUG Action Items

Based on the requirements analysis in this document the following action items have been delineated for action by ERSUG with guidance by ExERSUG.

• Expand the ``Users helping User'' working group to facilitate the transition to MPP computing.
• Determine if the user community should establish ``application benchmarks'' or template benchmarks that can be used to characterize the performance of each class of computer outlined in this document, e.g., from workstation to MPP (c.f., section 4).
• Resolve to strengthen our participation in the design and implementation of distributed computing applications and tools in conjunction with the DOE2000 and similar groups.
• Work with NERSC to improve the mechanisms to match jobs/tasks to appropriate computational resources.
