The Energy Research Computational Resources

The computational resources of the High Performance Computing Access Center (HPCAC) are the focal point of production high performance computing for the DOE Office of Energy Research (DOE-ER) scientific programs. These resources include not only the obvious assortment of hardware but also the application software, development software and the network connectivity to the national laboratories and academic institutions that utilize the facility. The HPCAC is a unique facility shared by essentially every research area supported by DOE-ER. Moreover, the NERSC facility aims to be a showpiece within the distributed computing environment for DOE-ER, where components of the computing environment are first prototyped and quickly put into large scale production use.
