    Dear Franklin users,

The following are a few Franklin software upgrades during the next week or so:

    1) gcc/4.2.3 will be set to default tomorrow (Wed, March 19). To use an old version:
        % module swap PrgEnv-pgi PrgEnv-gnu
        % module avail gcc
        % module swap gcc/4.2.1 gcc/4.2.3

    2) acml/4.0.1a will be set to default tomorrow (Wed, March 19). To use an old version:
        % module avail acml
        % module load acml/3.6.1

    3) pgi/7.1.4 license problem has been fixed. The current default version is pgi/7.0.7. To use the new version:
        % module swap pgi/7.0.7 pgi/7.1.4

pgi/7.1.4 will be set to default on Wed, March 26.

    4) CrayPat 4.1.1 and Apprentice2 4.1 have been installed. The current default versions are xt-craypat/4.0 and apprentice2/4.0. To use the new versions:
        % module load xt-craypat/4.1.1
        % module load apprentice2/4.1

xt-craypat/4.1.1 and apprentice2/4.1 will be set to default on Wed, March 26.

    5) Papi 3.5.99b versiob has been installed. The current default version is papi/3.5.0C. To use the new version:
        % module load xt-papi/3.5.99b

Please notice the prefix of "xt" before the new module name. xt-papi/3.5.99b will be set to default on Wed, March 26.

Also note that right now, both modules papi/3.5.0C and xt-papi/3.5.99b are default due to their different module names. On March 26, the default module papi will be set to an artificial version, and "module load papi" will tell you to please load xt-papi instead.

    Best Regards,
