Dear NERSC Project Managers, ERCAP allocation requests for 2006 will be due September 1, 2005. They will request application performance data similar to what was requested last year. The 2006 code performance details are located at: http://www.nersc.gov/nusers/accounts/allocations/ercap/help/code.html If you used poe+ to collect this data last year, please be advised that this utility is no longer available. The upgrade to AIX 5.2 removed a mechanism upon which poe+ relied. poe+ has been replaced by IPM, the Integrated Performance Monitoring tool. To use IPM: module load ipm and then run your code as you would normally. Information on IPM is available at http://www.nersc.gov/nusers/resources/SP/ipm/ You also have other options. The hpmcount utility works well for serial codes or code kernels which contain no MPI. PMAPI, HPMLIB and PAPI provide APIs to programmers to instrument codes by hand. As always, NERSC staff are available to assist if you encounter problems or have questions: consult@nersc.gov. Sincerely, -- Francesca Verdier email: fverdier@lbl.gov Group Lead, NERSC User Services phone: 510-486-7193
