IDL 6.0 now default

Greetings NERSC User,

IDL 6.0 was made the default version on seaborg and escher on Thursday,
February 19. To access it, type:

   module load idl

On seaborg, there is a problem with the 64-bit version of the IDL
Development Environment (idlde). Certain older version of Linux (on
your desktop machine) will cause idlde to fail with a "segmentation
fault". There are two solutions to this problem. Either upgrade
your desktop Linux machine to the latest version possible, or use
the 32-bit version of idlde on seaborg:

   idlde -32

The previous version (5.6) of IDL will remain available for a short
while; it can be accessed with:

   module load idl/5.6
