Greetings NERSC Cray User,
Today (Monday, September 30) is the last day of operation for NERSC's
Cray computers: the T3E (MCurie), and the PVP cluster (Killeen, Bhaskara,
and Seymour).
All files in users' home directories (on MCurie and Killeen) will be
archived to HPSS. This archiving process will begin on October 1, and
is expected to take approximately two weeks. Directions for retrieving
the archived files will be made available at that time.
Any reduction in the total amount of data stored in home directories
prior to October 1 will greatly assist us in our archiving efforts.
Therefore, we would like to ask all active users to delete unneeded
files from their home directories before 23:00 PDT on September 30.
In particular, there is little reason to save object (.o) files,
object library (.a) files, core files, and executable files.
Please spend some time today reviewing your home directories on MCurie
and/or Killeen, and remove any files that you don't want to be archived.
Note that if you haven't been actively using the machines since August 1,
you have most likely already been archived, and will be unable to login.
Thanks for your assistance!
