Dear NERSC SP users,
As use of the NERSC SP seaborg has increased following
the year-end holidays, some users submitting LoadLeveler
jobs in the class "low" have experienced long times
in the queue waiting to run.
Here are some characteristics of LoadLeveler jobs in
the class "low" that will run sooner:
- Requesting fewer nodes. Jobs requesting 8 or fewer
nodes are running much sooner than jobs requesting
32 or more nodes at class "low"
- Requesting less time. Jobs requesting a full
8 hour run time are not eligible for "backfill"
scheduling. If your job can run in less than
8 hours, it will run sooner if your request less time.
If your computation requires a full 8-hours on more than
8 nodes, you may wish to consider running at class "regular"
now that the utilization of the system has increased.
Best regards,
Frank Hale
