Index Seaborg Update

From: David Skinner (dskinner_at_nersc.gov)

 Greetings,

 Seaborg is currently unavailable for batch computation. You may be able
to log in, but availability and general system functionality may go away
at any time. The duration of this outage is documented at

http://hpcf.nersc.gov/news/scheduled_downs/

 During this downtime NERSC is improving the system by

 * adding 50 more nodes (800 cpus) to the compute pool for a new total of
184 nodes (2944 cpus).

 * performing system wide testing

 * adding a significant amount of memory. The new configuration will have

	4 nodes @ 64 Gigabytes
       64 nodes @ 32 Gigabytes
      116 nodes @ 16 Gigabytes
  Memory upgrades will continue in a rolling fashion after the outage.
  No further interruption of jobs or service will occur.

 * adding new application software

 Thanks for your patience as we make these improvements.

 Regards,

 David Skinner
