Greetings NERSC SP user, NERSC has begun the 30 day availability period for the phase II SP system seaborg. The phase I system, gseaborg, will be retired after users accounts have been moved to the new system. In the coming days, your account and all the files in your home directory on gseaborg will be migrated to seaborg. The user environment on phase II is very similar to that on phase I, but the machine itself is faster, has more memory and more PE's. NERSC's new SP is currently ranked as the second most powerful computer in the world and is number one among non classified computers. * User migration from phase I to phase II will begin next week and proceed into July. You will receive notification and instructions when prior to your account being migrated. * Charging for compute time on phase II will begin August 1 2001. * More information of the new machine can be obtained at http://hpcf.nersc.gov/computers/SP/phaseII/ Regards, David ----------------------------------------------------- Dr. David Skinner User Services Group dskinner@nersc.gov NERSC Division, Berkeley Lab
