Executive NERSC User's Group Election and Openings

Dear NERSC PIs,

We would like to announce the recent election results for the Chair and
Vice-Chair of the executive NERSC user's group (NUGEX). Fortunately
there were no ballot problems and we had an 85% voter turnout. Robert
Ryne from Los Alamos National Laboratory is our new Chair and Doug
Rotman from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is the new
Vice-Chair. They start serving their 3 year terms this month.

We are soliciting your help in finding new NUGEX members. NUGEX is the
executive committee of the NUG (NERSC User's Group). The function of
NUGEX is to be a voice for the users in matters of operation and
development of the NERSC facility. NUGEX is the primary body that
delineates the user communities' requirements. This process is
happening again and as in the past this will be one of several key
factors in determining the next round of procurements for NERSC
computational resources. NUGEX members have the responsibility to
attend 1 to 2 face-to-face meetings that are held both at the NERSC
facility and at various user sites (e.g., ORNL, ANL, Princeton, etc.).
There are also monthly teleconference meetings on the third Thursday of
the month that mostly update the community about happenings at NERSC
and provide a feedback mechanism to NERSC staff.

At this point we have one open position that represents Fusion
Energy, one from High Energy and Nuclear Physics, and 3 At Large
openings. At Large positions can come from any user community. We
have 5 positions and 4 candidates at this point. Please help us in
identifying others willing to serve. Please nominate candidates or
yourself at nug-elections@nersc.gov. Once sufficient candidates are
available we will hold the election via the main NERSC facility web
site. All NUG members may vote and NUG members are anyone with a valid
user account at the NERSC facility. We appreciate your assistance in
this matter.
