Computer Operations and ESnet Support Group Staff

Steve Lowe worked at LLNL for 13 years after his service in the Air Force. He moved with NERSC to LBNL in 1996 and has managed the Operations group since 2004. Steve earned multiple certificates in System Administration and Networking from UC Berkeley Extension, and an RHCE from Red Hat.

Angel Castro worked as a Network Support Technician for Long's Drugstores prior to joining NERSC in 2009.  Prior to that, he was employed by the Oakland Unified School District for over eight years, also as a Network Technician.  He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Philippines and has completed UNIX System Administration courses at UC Berkeley Extension.  He also obtained a Cisco CCNA at Alameda College.

Matthew Harvey joined NERSC in 2009 with 11 years of experience working for various IT companies spanning many different technologies and backgrounds. He spent the last 4+ years performing high level network support as a top technical lead for a national IP, data and security services company.

Yu Lok Lam works as a lead technician to provide operations and network support to NERSC and ESnet.  He earned a B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems at San Francisco State University and an M.S. degree in Information Technology from Golden Gate University. 

Isaac Ovadia joined LBNL in 2007 to provide Computer Operations and Network support to NERSC and ESNET. Isaac has a BS degree in Informations Systems Management from the University of San Francisco. In addition, he has a certification in Unix Systems Administration and is a Certified Network Administrator.  Isaac has over 25 years of experience in computer operations and network support that spans several industries.

Alex Ubungen is pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science at San Francisco State University. He came from Pacific Gas and Electric Company, where he worked for 16 years. He has ten years of experience in the mainframe environment, and over four years experience in imaging technology, as a technical specialist in a document management system.
