The meeting will be all day Monday, June 5, and is expected to finish Tuesday, June 6, at lunchtime. Following this business meeting will be a training class on the new IBM SP in conjunction with Users Helping Users (UHU) talks and discussions with the consultants. The host hotel will be the Garden Plaza on Illinois Ave (US 62) in Oak Ridge, TN. The ORNL rate is $67 for either Single or King plus 13.25% tax. The cut-off date for reservations is May 18, 2000. The hotel is a first class, full service hotel. Amenities include: indoor/outdoor heated pool with whirlpool, off-site health club at no charge for guests, handicapped rooms available, express check out, USA today, voice mail, business center for hotel guests, a concierge floor with free food Mon-Fri, full service restaurant and lounge. The meeting will be held within walking distance of the hotel at the Pollard auditorium which is part of the Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education. This facility does not require a badge and pass check and so is available to foreign nationals who may decide to come on short notice. We plan to meet in one of the meeting rooms which should comfortably hold 30-40 people.
Coming from the airport get on US 129 north toward Knoxville. Take the exit for I-140 toward Oak Ridge. Follow this road till it becomes the Pellissippi Parkway (US 162) into the Solway community and then Oak Ridge. As you pass over the Solway bridge you will reach road construction which will be there till Nov 2000. SR 62 or Illinois Ave is closed from Bethel Valley Road to Union Valley Road. Follow the Detour to Scarboro Road passing on your left the Oak Ridge Y12 Plant at Bear Creek Road. At the intersection of Illinois Ave and Scarboro Road make a left turn back onto Illinois Ave. Within a short distance you will see The Comfort Inn on your right, followed by the Oak Ridge Mall and then the host hotel The Garden Plaza. The meetings will be held at the Pollard Auditorium which is part of the Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Engineering run by Oak Ridge Associated Universities. Badges are not required. The Pollard Auditorium is with walking distance of the hotel.
