Denovo - Denovo status & plans for 2018 - Migration of compute nodes from Genepool to Denovo is now paused. We expect to convert the few remaining nodes in March, when the UGE license expires. If you have not converted a production pipeline to Denovo or Cori, please contact us, if you haven’t already! This conversion MUST BE COMPLETED in February!!! - GPINTs must be converted to Slurm over the next few weeks. We’ll be contacting groups about this soon, but if you’d like to volunteer your group and get this done more quickly, please let us know. - Fairshare is enabled in Slurm on a per-user basis, not project-related. We need management input to decide the project-shares before we can have a final solution - expect this to take a while still. - There’s more information on Denovo on the NERSC website <>, we will keep this page up-to-date so please use it as a point of reference. - Thank you to everyone for their hard work in making the transition off of Genepool! We know this wasn’t an easy task, nor is the transition complete. We know that there will be many more (hopefully minor) fixes to make Denovo and Cori the highly productive computing environments the JGI needs, but we’re all extremely pleased and excited by the relative ease with which we’ve seen research and pipelines adopting Slurm, containers, and Anaconda-based software. Congratulations, and thank you for all your efforts! - Denovo hardware - Genepool compute node conversion is ~90% complete. - At this time, Denovo consists of: - 214 128GB nodes - 90 256GB nodes - 11 512GB nodes - 1 1TB node - 8 interactive nodes are in testing. General Information - Genepool's 2TB node is out of service. This node, long out of warranty, has been unresponsive on reboot. Engineers will be evaluating if there is a simple fix, but you should not make plans to utilize this node at this time. - Cori and Edison will both be down for maintenance on 1/8/2018, from 7:00 pm until some time after midnight - NERSC Quarterly maintenance will be Feb 6, 2018. It may be necessary to shut down Genepool and Denovo to permit minor electrical work. We'll relay further information as it becomes available. - JGI-NERSC SysOps will next meet on Thursday Jan 4, 3-4pm in room 101. The migration to Denovo will be a regular item of discussion, and we request that all groups send representatives to make sure all voices are heard. - NERSC Office Hours. Regular office hours are in Room 413 at the JGI. - Wednesdays 10am-12pm - Thursdays 10am-12pm --Dan Udwary NERSC Data Sciences Engagement Group _______________________________________________ Jgi-users mailing list
